2011 USATF & AAU National Junior Olympic Results

2011 USATF National Junior Olympic Qualifiers in Opening Ceremony

Over 160 Track Houston athletes set a club record for bringing home a total of 171 medals from the 2011 USATF National Junior Olympics in Wichita, KS. In their first year attending a national meet, the Sub Bantam Girls left an impressionable image on the meet by winning four 1st place awards. The Intermediate Girls won the 4x100m relay race for a second year in a row and adding the 4x400 meter relay win to their resume’. The Intermediate Boys collected gold in the 4x400 meter relay race for a second straight year.

This year some Track Houston athletes participated in the AAU National Junior Olympic Games in New Orleans, La. In that meet the Sub Bantam girls set a new record in the 4x100 meter relay and the Young Men division won gold in the 4x100. It was Déjà vu for the Intermediate Girls as they won the 4x100 and the 4x400 meter relay races at AAU just as they did at USATF.

Athletic Honors 2011

Athletic Honors 2011 - Track Houston Youth Track Club

Year: 2022 2021 2019 2018 2017 2016 2015 2014 2013 2012 2011 2010 2009

Dynasty McClennon

In the Sub Bantam Girls 200 meters, Dynasty McClennon took gold with a time of 29.48 and silver in the 100 meters with a time 14.55. Dynasty’s other USATF medal came as part of the 4x400 meter relay team that won gold and set a new record. At the AAU Junior Olympic she was the 4th leg on the 4x100 meter relay team that also set a new record.

Jalen Elrod

Jalen Elrod came away from the USATF Junior Olympic with 3 national gold medals and 3 new records. She won the 400 meters with a time of 1:11.55 and was part of the record setting gold medal relay teams that won the 4x100 and 4x400.

Sub Bantam Girls

USATF National Junior Olympic - The 4×100 meter relay team of Jalen Elrod, Daja Maxey, Maryah Hampton and Adaora Nwokeji won gold and set the new national record with a time of 1:01.01. The 4x400 meter relay team of Jalen Elrod, Daja Maxey, Maryah Hampton and Dynasty McClennon ran away from the field to win gold and set the record at 5:05.18.

AAU National Junior Olympic Games - In this venue the girls 4×100 meter relay team of Daja Maxey, Maryah Hampton, Adaora Nwokeji and Dynasty McClennon broke the national record in the prelims with a time of 1:01.27. That same team in the finals won gold and broke their own record set the day before in a blazing time of 59.96.

Sub Bantam Boys

In the Sub Bantam Boys division, the 4×400 meter relay team won gold in an unusual fashion where a team of 4 athletes ran in the prelims and another one in the finals. The coaches strategy and total team effort worked well for the Sub Bantam Boys in securing first place in the 4×400 meter relay race.

Caleb Cavanaugh

In his second year of high jumping, Caleb Cavanaugh of the Bantam Boys division won this event with a jump of 4’9″. Observing the height of his mother and father, Caleb will be participating in this event for a long time and certainly bringing home more gold. Caleb was also awarded the bronze medal for the triathlon.

Midget Boys

In the Midget Boys 4×100 meter relay race, Track Houston was the only team to run under 50 seconds in the prelims and finals to win gold with a time of 49.60.

Intermediate Girls

At the AAU National Junior Olympic Games in New Orleans La, the 4×400 meter relay team of Rushell Harvey, Alaysha Johnson, Zarriea Willis and Mahasin Ahmad won in a time of 3:45.05 which was their best time of the year. In the 4×100 meter relay race, the team of Tarameshia Gordon, Rushell Harvey, Alaysha Johnson and Zarriea Willis prevailed with their first place win.

One week earlier the Intermediate Girls won the 4×100 meter and 4×400 meter relay races at the USATF National Junior Olympics in Wichita, KS. No other track club has won these 2 relays in both AAU and USATF National Junior Olympics in the same year in one division. In conclusion to a great season, the Track Houston Intermediate Girls 4×100 and 4×400 meter relay teams are ranked No. 1 in the country.

Intermediate Boys

The Intermediate Boys won the 4x400 meter relay race for a second year in a row. This race was almost in parallel to the way the Intermediate Boys won this race last year but with 3 different athletes proving that they could do the job as well.

Young Men

At the AAU National Junior Olympic Games in New Orleans La, the Young Men division 4x100 meter relay team won gold.
