171 medals, a national record and 17 titles: Track Houston's 2026 Junior Olympics
Track Houston closed out the 2026 USATF National Junior Olympic Championships with 171 medals, a new national record and 17 national championship wins — another statement season for the club.
Elijah Zuniga swept gold in the 17-18 Boys 800m and 1500m and anchored the mixed 4x800m relay to a third title. Maryann Akpobassa set a triple jump record and added silver in the long jump. Thomas Holmes III took the 11-12 Boys 400m crown, Jace Coleman won pentathlon gold with a hurdles silver in 13-14, Brooklyn Allen ran away with the 17-18 Girls 3000m, and Avonte Earl took the 17-18 Boys 200m.
The relays delivered too: the 8U Boys 4x100m and 9-10 Girls 4x400m both won gold, and the 11-12 Boys 4x100m squad’s 46.85 national record, set at Region 12, stood through nationals.
Congratulations to every athlete, coach and family who made the trip. This is what “quantity of quality” looks like.
